Tungsten Electrode
Tungsten electrode is commonly used in TIG welding consumable materials.Tungsten electrode has the characteristics of low electron work function, high recrystallization temperature, good mechanical cutting performance, high temperature resistance and strong ability of electron emission ect.Because it has the highest melting point of any metal (3,410 degrees Celsius), boiling point as high as 5900 ℃, high temperature resistance, good electrical conductivity, high strength, the purity of the tungsten is about 99.5% (mass fraction), the electronic work function of 4.54 eV, when adding trace rare earth elements with smaller work function in tungsten, such as thorium (Th), cerium (Ce), zirconium (Zr), etc., or their oxides, such as thorium oxide (ThO2), cerium oxide (CeO2), etc., can significantly improve the ability of electron emission. Application: suitable for inert gas arc welding and plasma welding, cutting, spraying, smelting electrode.
